Is wisdom a more important attribute than knowledge, if you were to tell me that, I'd tell you; wiser words were never spoken - and I'd tell you that I agree with that one - wisdom is the ability to use universal truths across domains, garnered from experience enabling the most viable decisions moving forward regardless of the new area or endeavor you enter. But what is wisdom? Is it the famous quotes we learn from our forefathers?
In some regards we should challenge the famous quotes, because they don't work in all circumstances. Chinese proverbs are going to be dangerous for the Chinese leadership in the future, why? Perhaps you could say it best, if you quoted Einstein, we need a new way of thinking. But here's a conundrum. Einstein said; "Question Authority" but I will stand up and ask; "WHY?" I wonder if the teacher authority in that case would want to drug me with big pharma medications for ADHD for daring to question?
So what is Wisdom, What is Knowledge, because much of what has been passed off as Wisdom isn't and much of the knowledge and fact we think we know is; Wrong.
Ronald Reagan once stated; "It's not that the other side isn't smart, they are, it's just that they know so many things that just aren't so."
Which is probably why I say we need to teach people to THINK and in thinking, reasoning, questioning, they will develop wisdom, rather than being drones, with knowledge pummeled into their little skulls, and specially tailored to ensure they submit to authority, unfortunately more often than not the authority is false, the emperor isn't wearing anything of value.
The biggest problem in that is simply that our current educational system is designed to get human brains early and teach them to submit to authority - get everyone on the same page and prepare them for the workforce. If we teach them to think too much, we will have too many chiefs and not enough Indians, but with the future of robotics, and AI, we may not need all those huge populations of rank-and-file workers anymore anyway.
The reality is that we are training our future generations now for jobs that don't exist yet, and the knowledge we have learned in the past is probably not applicable in the future, but wisdom is something that never goes out of style, nor does the need and ability to think at higher levels. So, please think on all this okay?
